Soffia’s House – a Guesthouse in a small fishing town named Siglufjörður in North Iceland (soffiashouse.com). This was a small business, owned and operated by my husband and I, first in 2017 and then again in 2022.

Brief
To create branding, marketing assets, signage and a large outdoor mural for our quaint little guesthouse on the edge of the Arctic circle.
For the mural, I decided to paint a historical portrait (3m x 2m) to pay tribute to the founder of the house, store merchant Sigurður Jóhann Sveinsson Fanndal (b.1876 d.1938). He and his descendants ran their family store in this house for over 3 generations from 1921 to 1997. Built in 1914, this house originally operated as a general food store and then transformed into a fishing supply store to meet the demands of the Herring industry booming within Siglufjörður.
Outcome
Booking.com score = Superb (9.1 out of 10)
“Welcoming host ... we are with people with the soul of artists ... we loved the sublime kitsch and vintage decor, very tastefully decorated! We recommend this destination” Pascale, France.
“The host of the guesthouse is very very kind, super informative. The location is good as it near by the sea. The guesthouse is full of art painting and creations, it’s just like staying in a movie set.” Siu, Hong Kong.
