‘Drekka og Teikna’ is a monthly cultural event that I organise and run at Segull 67 in Siglufjörður, where community members gather to enjoy drawing and companionship. This inclusive event welcomes everyone, regardless of artistic skill, and fosters connections among isolated residents and newcomers, boosting town morale.
Inspired by a long-running Drink and Draw event in Reykjavik (running since 2015) that I always wanted to attend, I decided to start my own version in Siglufjörður. Initially, I was unsure where to host the first session, but Herhúsið artist in residence Ross Potter generously offered his residency studio, helping to get things started. The following month, I moved the event to Segull 67, where it has since become a regular monthly gathering.
In August, I collaborated with Myndasöguhátíð Siglufjarðar and had over 80 attendees.
